Active Sports FC Founder and Director speaks with BBC Radio London’s Edward Adoo about football, knife crime, youth opportunities and the upcoming All In The Game community screening in Peckham.
Less than 24 hours after appearing live on Sky Sports Football Weekender, Active Sports FC Founder and Director Joshua Khan was back in the national spotlight, joining BBC Radio London presenter Edward Adoo to continue the conversation about the club’s remarkable journey and the impact it is making beyond football.
During the interview, Joshua reflected on Active Sports FC’s incredible achievement of five promotions in six seasons. While celebrating the club’s success on the pitch, he explained that its greatest achievement is the positive difference it makes in the lives of young people across South London.
A key part of the discussion focused on the reality of knife crime and the importance of creating safe, positive opportunities for young people. Joshua spoke about how Active Sports FC uses football as a vehicle to inspire confidence, build resilience and provide a sense of belonging, giving young people the support and direction they need to fulfil their potential.
Joshua also discussed All In The Game, the feature documentary following the club’s journey. He highlighted the special community screening organised at Theatre Peckham, where local young people from Peckham were invited to watch the film, take part in discussions and see first-hand how football can help transform lives. The event was created to ensure the documentary reached the very communities whose stories and experiences it represents.
The interview highlighted how All In The Game goes beyond football, exploring themes including knife crime, mental health, resilience and community, while demonstrating the life-changing impact that positive role models and opportunity can have.
The BBC Radio London appearance came just one day after Joshua’s live interview on Sky Sports Football Weekender and immediately before the exclusive industry showcase of All In The Game at Theatre Peckham. Together, the three-day run marked a significant milestone for Active Sports FC, with the club’s message reaching television, radio and industry audiences in quick succession.
As Active Sports FC continues to grow, so does its platform to raise awareness of the challenges facing young people and to demonstrate how grassroots football can become a powerful force for positive change.
